Plug within an IDE controller card, or replace the motherboard with one that have IDE ports. Such a motherboard probably won't fit in your XT or AT travel case, so replace that too. The BIOS of an MFM-era computer will not be able to see the huge dimensions of today's hard drives. You might consider getting a compact flash card and a CF to IDE adapter, or get hold of a network card and use your 25-year-old PC as a diskless client to the computer you are using to read this page.
Buy a contemporary computer and try again!
