How do I take my garmin forerunner 201 detected by my laptop on the serial port? (no detection at all)?

How do I take my garmin forerunner 201 detected by my laptop on the serial port? (no detection at all)?

Check if the baud settings are correct (I imagine they should match) on the GPS receiver and within the software on the PC. Also check to see if the software is looking at the correct COM port number.
